This is who I am

Family & Love

Hi, I'm Michael. I'm so happy you're here! I'd love to tell you a little bit about me and what makes me tick, both as a father and passionate photographer.

You probably already know I'm a photographer, but I'm also a dedicated father, web designer/developer, and someone who truly enjoys noticing the small, but meaningful moments in everyday life. It's these little moments that trigger the greatest nostalgia when looked back on. Every photograph, nomatter how simple, well tell a great story, or trigger a past memory. I was born and raised in the great city of Hamilton, Ontario, and about ten years ago, made the tough decision to make the move to Brantford. Brantford is where my partner I purchased our first home, and started our family. My family has deeply shaped who I am today, softening me, and helping me appreciate the little things in life, from a simple smile of effection, the tears of sadness, and the back rubs while your children fall asleep.

Being the father of two very busy kidos has taught me a lot about patience, flexibility, and finding joy in the absolute chaos. From hectic breakfasts to dinners out where one or both are always slipping under the table, life moves fast and can be unpredictable. That's exactly why photographing families, especially families with little ones, feels so natural to me. I don't expect perfection — I look for real life. That lived-in chaos has made me calm, adaptable, very gray and ready for whatever moments a session might bring.

Experience & Passion

I strive to capture photos that feel true to life, natural, and honest. I'm drawn to real expressions, gentle interactions, and the little details that tell your story. I guide lightly when it helps, but I never force anything. During our conversations, I will ask what makes you smile, laugh, and genuinely happy. I'll work these into our session to bring out the honest moments. This approach carries over to couples sessions as well. Whether it's an engagement, maternity, or a quiet moment shared between two people, my focus is on capturing connection in a way that feels authentic, relaxed, and heartfelt.

Before photography became my full-time focus, I spent 14 years as a software engineer, including seven years at Square. Working across multiple teams taught me how to communicate clearly, listen carefully, and turn ideas into experiences that feel thoughtful and easy to use. I bring the same care to my photography business. From booking to communication to gallery delivery, I want every part of the process to feel smooth and stress free. Beautiful photos are important, but feeling comfortable and cared for throughout the experience matters just as much.

I’m naturally quiet and observant. I notice subtle gestures, small moments, and expressions that often go unseen. I believe everyone has a quiet, natural beauty, and my goal is to capture that without forcing poses — just with comfort, trust, and a little space.

When I'm not photographing, you'll likely find me outside, camping or hiking, soaking in the calm of nature. That sense of groundedness carries into my work, whether we’re wandering a field, exploring a trail, or capturing moments at home. At the heart of it, I want to create honest, heartfelt images that feel like you. I also want the entire experience to feel calm, caring, and effortless.

If this feels like the kind of photographer you'd like to work with, I'd love to connect!

Your friend & Photographer,
Mike
